Biblical Mirror Affirmations

Biblical Mirror Affirmations

Chances are, you have probably heard of affirmations. They strong and positive statements. Have you seen the viral video of the little girl standing on the bathroom counter, looking in the mirror, fervently saying "My whole house is great. I can do anything good. I like my school.... I like my hair. I like my haircuts. I can do anything good. Yeah, yeah yeah!!" I watch that video and think "I wish I had that energy and mindset." We can and affirmations aren't a new thing but you know what makes affirmations BETTER?! Speaking Biblical truth over yourself.

I recently restarted "mirror work" after many many years without doing it. What's mirror work? You simply stand in front of the mirror and say affirmations. I decided to speak things over myself that God has told us about ourselves. Biblical affirmations. This isn't my idea or anything new but let me tell you - the amazing ways Holy Spirit moves within you when you speak His truths over yourself is nothing short of lifechanging.

Speaking something repetitively over yourself literally rewires pathways in your brain. So think about this, you think 'I'm not good enough. strong enough. smart enough. pretty enough. special enough...' how many times a day? You likely KNOW that isn't what God sees yet we all get stuck in the negative self-talk and start to believe the lies. STOP IT! Wouldn't you love to see just the tiniest glimmer of how your Father, Creator, Abba sees you? I sure would; so I have started this simple thing each morning. Just me and the woman in the mirror.

Sure, it will feel awkward at first but KEEP DOING IT! There's no secret to it, it's literally all over the Bible. Do some reflection and prayer, look at the negative things you feel about yourself, the lies of the enemy and flip the script. Speak the truth over yourself. Girl, you are CHOSEN, REDEEMED, LOVED, SAFE, EQUIPPED.  My personal list changes, things the Lord guides me in, ways I feel insufficient I dig into scripture and declare it!
